We are excited about the successful completion of our renovated barracks, Camp Grant, in Sanniqueli City, Nimba County.
With funding support from the Liberian Government, the state of the art military installation has 11 structures, a total of sixty two residential apartments sub divided into types B and C, is now ready to hold our Nimba contingent soon to be dispatched in the county.
During the weekend, a high power defense delegation comprising the Deputy Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Theophilus Dana, the 23rd Infantry Brigade Commander, Assistant Defence Ministers for Civil Works, and Public Affairs, the Office of Security Corporation (OSC) at the U.S Embassy, including the ECOWAS Advisory Training Team (EATT) and other senior officers of the Armed Forces made final rounds of inspection of the facility.
While in the county, the delegation held talks with the county administration over plans to have the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces dedicate the facility before this year's official Independence celebration but stressed that local residents who have encroached on military property must relocate before the dedication.
The delegation also made a brief tour of Camp Jones in Kakata City, Margibi County as that project is nearing its completion.
The renovation of military barracks across the country stands as a milestone in giving the men and women of the Armed Forces of Liberia a better and more dignified living condition as congestion of military barracks continues to be one of the longstanding challenges confronting the military.
