LOFA COUNTY HEALTH TEAM LAUNCHES MATERNAL, NEWBORN HEALTH & NUTRITION CONFERENCE

(VOINJAMA, LOFA COUNTY, JUNE 26, 2025)—Today, the Lofa County Health Team launched a two-day Maternal, Newborn Health, and Child Nutrition Conference in support of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.

The event was held under the theme, “Collaborative Efforts of All in Improving Maternal, Newborn Health, and Nutrition to Reduce Maternal and Newborn Death in Lofa.”

The conference convened a wide range of stakeholders, including the County Superintendent, District Commissioners, City Mayors, civil society leaders, religious institutions, development partners, and representatives from other line ministries.

Also in attendance were members of the Liberia Midwives Association (LMA), Traditional Trained Midwives (TTMs), pharmacists, medical directors, Community Health Services Supervisors (CHSS), Community Health Assistants (CHAs), and other healthcare professionals.

At the end of the conference, participants are expected to sign a Joint Resolution outlining strategic actions to minimize maternal and neonatal deaths across Lofa County.
