𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐞𝐱𝐚𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝐍𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐭

(Capitol Hill- Monrovia, Liberia-July 7, 2025);-The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, on Monday, July 7, 2025, commenced confirmation proceedings for Hon. John A. Ballout Jr., Liberia's Ambassador-Designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with Jurisdiction in Benin, Equatorial Guinea and ECOWAS.

The move by the Senate was to conduct a confirmation hearing for the nominee, in order to assess his competency and suitability for the position he was nominated to occupy.

Appearing before the Senate, nominee Ballout pledged to champion the strengthening of economic diplomacy between the two nations, recognizing Nigeria's economic potential and influence on the continent, something according to him, Liberia can take advantage of.

The nominee, Former Maryland County Senator John A. Ballout Jr., was elected in 2005 on the ticket of Unity Party.

Hon. Ballout was also appointed in 2017 as Liberia's Ambassador to the State of Qatar.

The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Senate, is expected to submit its report with recommendations to plenary, for subsequent action on the confirmation status of the nominee.
