Procurement fraud, financial improprieties, and acts of corruption.
The General Auditing Commission (GAC) almost a year ago established serious financial irregularities in its audit of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), involving millions of Liberian and US dollars. Unauthorized payments were made to TAMMA Corporation and 231 Data Incorporated under the Liberia Digital Transformation Project (LDTP).
TAMMA Corporation is owned by the suspended Acting Chairperson of the LTA Board, Abdullah Kamara while 231 Data Inc. is owned by Mr. Niahson K. Porte, a Liberian in the US.
The GAC's report indicates payments of L$262,844,500 and US$450,000 and highlights a lack of accountability, including missing contracts and project documentation.
GAC audit revealed that TAMMA Corporation received L$178,500,000 and US$440,000 between July and August 2023, while 231 Data Incorporated received L$84,000,000 (approximately US$437,500) between November 7-15, 2023.
The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) investigation reveals that the financial scandal at LTA amounts to US$4,309,662.18 and L$432,164,269.20
