The Martin K. N. Kollie Foundation (MKNK-F) Fully Sponsors 60 Adolescent Girls to Acquire Vocational Education
June 21, 2025
Few hours ago, I was privileged to participate in a historic orientation ceremony of sixty (60) adolescent Liberian girls who we are fully funding to acquire different technical and vocational skills at AVTI including cosmetology, pastry, interior decoration, catering, etc.
The enthusiasm and readiness shown by these beneficiaries was incredibly thrilling this morning. They appeared upbeat and eager to be empowered. The feedback was huge and amazing. I delivered a brief message encouraging them to remain focused and determined in pursuit of self-sufficiency as they embark on this new journey. The total cost of sponsoring 60 students at AVTI including theory, practical, and internship is LRD 1.2 million (US$6,000). Best wishes to all beneficiaries and thanks to AVTI for imparting and impacting lives.
When I went to school, I did not go to school to compete with anyone. I went to school to learn how to find sustainable solutions to people’s problems. I was taught how to solve real-world problems. We cannot just criticize and keep talking about the problems. We must also find solutions to the problems. This is what inspires us as an activist to reach out and help lift up our community.
The Liberian people, including The Youth, must be empowered to actualize their full potential and God-given talents. This is what we seek as a foundation. It is not just enough to advocate and fight for them, we must also empower them.
As a foundation, our mission is to create a just and fair society of shared prosperity and equal opportunity where every Liberian can live a life of dignity, respect, and self-accomplishment.
