Breaking News! 36-Year-Old Woman Delivers Triplets in Zwedru Appeals for Humanitarian and Government Support
Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – A 36-year-old woman, Houssainatou Balde, has given birth to triplets at the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital in Zwedru.
The delivery, which took place on Monday, June 23, 2025, was successfully carried out via a surgical procedure.
The newborns, two girls and one boy are reported to be in stable condition alongside their mother.
Speaking to our correspondent, shortly after the delivery, Balde expressed both joy and concern over the unexpected arrival of triplets.
“I have had two children before without any complications. I’m surprised by this one — I don’t know what to do, but I trust only in God,” she said.
Currently, the mother of five is calling on citizens, humanitarian organizations, philanthropists, and the Government of Liberia to intervene with urgent support. According to medical staff, Balde is in need of essential supplies and ongoing care to sustain her health and that of the newborns.
Balde’s appeal adds to growing concerns about maternal and neonatal care support in rural Liberia, particularly in cases of multiple births.
