Monrovia-July 6, 2025 — The Ministry of Justice confirms the escape of six inmates from the Barclayville Detention Center in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Immediate security measures were enacted, and one escapee, Edwin Lewis aged 40 who was charged with burglary, theft of property and criminal conspiracy has already been re-arrested following a coordinated manhunt involving law enforcement and intelligence units.
Others still at large include:
1. Shadrach Williams, Age 33.
2. William Wallace, age: 26
3. Johnny Brown, age: 28,
4. Koffa Sieh, age: 30.
5.Jacob Weah, age:16.
Authorities are working around the clock to ensure public safety and restore full security at the facility.
The Ministry urges the public to remain calm and vigilant. Citizens with any information that may assist in the ongoing operation are encouraged to contact any law enforcement officer.
An internal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the breach and prevent future occurrences.
