Twelve Liberian Health Professionals Depart for China Seminar
(RIA, Margibi County, Liberia, September 10, 2025)—adelegation of twelve Liberian health professionals has departed Monrovia to participate in a Regional Healthcare and Medical Standardization Seminar for English-speaking African Countries in China.
The seminar is scheduled from September 10–23, 2025. It takes place in the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu and is expected to draw representatives from across Africa alongside their Chinese counterparts.
The Liberia’s delegation comprises senior managers from the Ministry of Health (MOH), officials of the National Food Authority, County Health Officers of Gbarpolu, Bomi, Cape Mount, Grand Gedeh, and Rivercess Counties, as well as the Medical Director of F.J. Grante Hospital in Sinoe County.
This seminar offers Liberia a unique platform to engage with experts across Africa and China in strengthening healthcare delivery and setting medical standards. It is also a rare opportunity for our health leaders to gain firsthand insights from China’s advanced healthcare and pharmaceutical systems.
While in Chengdu, participants will engage in lectures, technical exchanges, and collaborative discussions on medical standardization. The program will also include field visits to hospitals, companies, and factories in Beijing and Shanghai for practical experience and knowledge sharing.
The event is organized by the Chengdu Institute of Standardization with support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, further cementing Beijing’s longstanding partnership with Liberia’s health sector.
Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, Minister of Health, lauded the initiative and extended appreciation to the Chinese government for what she described as “unwavering support.”
“China has stood with Liberia in critical moments, whether through the donation of medical supplies, the deployment of experts, or capacity-building opportunities for our professionals,” Dr. Kpoto noted. “We see this training as another milestone in deepening cooperation and enhancing our capacity to serve the Liberian people.”
